Mother’s Day Yoga & Tea at Salamander Resort & Spa
If you want to celebrate early, Salamander Resort is hosting a Yoga & Tea event on Saturday, May 9, from 1 to 2 p.m. The yoga will be led by instructor Grace Kelly with an emphasis on “breath and intentional movement to release tension and cultivate a sense of ease, gratitude, and loving kindness.” Afterward, guests will be treated to a selection of tea and pastries from Salamander’s kitchen.

Moms and Macarons at Bluemont Vineyard
Celebrate the mom in your life at Bluemont Vineyard while taking in a breathtaking view of Loudoun Valley at 951 feet of elevation. “Our experience is designed to be more laid-back,” shares co-owner Haley Zurschmeide.

On Sunday, guests can experience a French macaron tasting and wine pairing. Reservations are required between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with walk-ins resuming after that point. This venue is dog-friendly and provides sparkling cider for minors, so the whole family can enjoy.

Carriage Rides and Fine Dining at Goodstone Inn
Goodstone Inn will feature a three-course menu and horse-drawn carriage rides on its scenic 265-acre farm. The carriage will be operating from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, and brunch will have three seatings from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. The menu will highlight fresh farm-to-table food, all locally sourced and much of it from Goodstone’s own gardens. Reservations are required and can be made on Goodstone’s website.

Wine, Music, and Photos at Breaux Vineyards
Breaux Vineyards in Purcellville is hosting a Mother’s Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, with live music by Jim Fulton from 2 to 5 p.m. and a professional photographer on-site to capture the special day.

“There will be a special feature of photography sessions provided by photographer Mariandree Paiz,” says Event Coordinator Jordan Brigman. The vineyard’s spring menu will be available all day, as well as wine and macaron pairings chosen by Breaux moms.
Butterfly Habitat Workshop at Abernethy & Spencer

Abernethy & Spencer Greenhouse and Garden Center is a local nursery that has operated for over a century in Purcellville. “We have the widest selection of plant varieties available in the mid-Atlantic,” explains Autumn Knowles, an Abernethy staff member. Alongside the flowers, the center has a little coffee shop called Lola’s, which is named after one of the several resident cockatoos. If you see the birds, they are known to say “hi” or even dance.

This weekend they will be launching a class on monarch butterflies, which will teach participants how to build a butterfly habitat. This is the perfect way to celebrate moms who love nature and want to be surrounded by flowers. ML
