The Byrne Gallery’s D.C. Pop-Up Gallery Open Until September

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Byrne Gallery is thrilled to announce the continuation of its pop-up gallery location in Washington, D.C., through September 2025! The pop-up gallery first debuted as part of World Pride D.C. 2025. The Byrne Gallery has since continued showing a wide selection of artwork, including paintings, sculptures, and artisan jewelry in its pop-up location.

This spring, the gallery was a proud official event partner of the World Pride D.C. 2025 group. Its June show, “Arc of Colors,” featured paintings by Craig Arnold, Miguel Diaz, Jeffrey Kibler, Joe LaMattina, Anne Manley, Regina Miele, and Thomas Wharton to celebrate themes of pride, the beauty of color, and beyond. This month recently featured paintings by painters Anne Marchand, Sharon Pierce McCollough, Susan Yennerell, and Carolyn Marshall Wright and sculptors Richard Binder and J.P. Muller for the exhibition “The Happiness of Color D.C.”

A reception for this exhibition will be held on Thursday, August 21, and Friday, August 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. each evening. All are warmly welcomed!

The Byrne Gallery delights in finding and working with artists of all different backgrounds and specialties from the Washington, D.C., metro area. Working with local artists and connecting their artwork with connoisseurs who can offer the right home for their pieces is always a priority.

For the pop-up location’s final months, it will host a special celebration for The Byrne Gallery’s 30th anniversary. The gallery first opened its doors in historic Middleburg, Virginia, in 1995, and this is a monumental milestone to celebrate with its supporters. Longtime collaborator Yuri Gorbachev will work with the gallery on its anniversary exhibition.

Gorbachev is an internationally recognized artist who has been showing with The Byrne Gallery for over 20 years. His mother’s family was originally from Ukraine. During the Soviet era, his mother was incarcerated by Joseph Stalin, and the drawing and gifts she sent from the prison camp when Gorbachev was a boy ultimately inspired him to become an artist. He still maintains a family residence in Odessa, where he would vacation every summer with his mother up until her passing in 2021. Gorbachev became a U.S. citizen in 1994 under a special 1991 visa program for individuals possessing extraordinary ability in the arts and sciences.

A portion of the sales from Gorbachev’s past several exhibitions with The Byrne Gallery have been donated to Ukrainian families through the International Rescue Committee for Ukrainian Refugees, which is consistently awarded top marks by charity watchdog groups for efficient use of contributions and overall impact.

With over 50 years of exhibitions worldwide, Gorbachev has had more than 200 solo exhibitions. He estimates that over 2 billion people have seen his artwork. His work hangs in the permanent collections of the Louvre, Hermitage, and several other Russian state museum. He has been featured in publications including Elle, GQ, Forbes, and The New York Times — several of which also carried his famous 2011 advertisement for Stolichnaya Vodka.

Two special artist receptions will be held on Friday, September 5, and Saturday, September 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. Gorbachev will be in attendance and can’t wait to meet guests!

The Byrne Gallery invites all to come enjoy its unique showcase in Washington, D.C., throughout the summer through the end of September.
