Salamander Collection Announces the Appointment of Scott Little as Managing Director of Salamander Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG, VA — Salamander Collection has announced the appointment of Scott Little as managing director of the triple Forbes Five-Star-rated Salamander Middleburg.

An experienced executive who has held numerous leadership roles at the highest levels of the hospitality industry, Little brings a unique range of expertise to his role at the resort, including luxury operations, community and investor relations, real estate development, preservation, finance, and acquisition.

“Scott’s hands-on approach and strong connection within the communities he’s lived in made him the perfect fit for Salamander Middleburg, and his valued hospitality background will further elevate the resort as one of the finest in the world,” said John Speers, executive vice president of operations at Salamander Collection, which has a portfolio of properties spanning across five states and two countries.

Little was most recently the vice president and general manager of the historic Harbor View Hotel on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. He has served as president and CEO of Kelley House Hotel in Martha’s Vineyard, general manager of the Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond-rated Inn at Little Washington in Washington, VA, and general manager of Hotel Lombardy in Washington, D.C. He has also held leadership roles at Keswick Hall in Keswick, VA, Woodstock Inn & Resort in Woodstock, VT, and Four Seasons Philadelphia. During his career, Little also spent over a decade working in real estate, development, and preservation, including serving as vice president and director of development for The Silver Companies in Washington, D.C., and for The Montpelier Foundation, where he was a director during the restoration and preservation of James Madison’s presidential home in Orange, VA.

Salamander Resort & Spa

Owned by renowned business leader Sheila Johnson, the acclaimed Salamander Middleburg is one of only five properties in the U.S. and 13 globally to earn separate Five-Star Awards for its accommodations, restaurant, and spa. The 168-room property also holds AAA’s Five Diamond rating, is located on 340 picturesque acres in the historic village of Middleburg, and celebrated its 10th anniversary this past year. It is renowned for its superior service, horse country-inspired design, luxurious accommodations, highly decorated Salamander Spa, Five-Star-rated Harrimans Grill, and one of the nation’s finest equestrian centers. The resort is also developing Residences at Salamander, which offers luxury, built-for-sale homes within a pristine landscape. The first homeowners have now moved into the community.

“I am thankful to Salamander Collection for entrusting me to lead this already iconic property,” said Little. “As we begin our second decade of providing magical memories, I am excited to work with the resort’s award-winning team and build on Salamander Middleburg’s many successes.”

Little is joined in the Middleburg area by his wife, Carol, both 37-year residents of Virginia, where they have raised and educated their four children. Beyond work, Little has a passion for travel, nature conservancy, and historic preservation.
