Robert Duvall (January 5, 1931 – February 15, 2026)

On Sunday, February 15, 2026, legendary actor and well-loved Fauquier County resident Robert Duvall passed away at his home in The Plains. He was 95. In a statement on Facebook, his wife, Luciana, wrote, “To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything.” 

While he was known for his iconic roles in “The Godfather,” “Apocalypse Now,” and “To Kill a Mocking Bird,” residents of Hunt Country will surely remember him as a horseman, a dedicated conservationist, a supporter of The Plains Volunteer Fire Department, and a familiar face at local establishments.
